1. Fast Authoring

The new Book Explorer gives you more information and better control when working with your content. The Explorer provides fast and easy access to all pages, objects and backgrounds simplifying the way you work with your content. In the Explorer view, you can quickly edit, move, delete, copy and perform numerous authoring activities.

2. Get Started Quickly

With the new SmartPages, you get all the course page types found most often in professional e-learning courses, with interactivity and functionality already built in. The new SmartStyles gives you the professional look you want for your course. Create your own SmartStyles to ensure all your content has the same look and feel.

3. Customize The Way You Work

ToolBook comes with variety of options enabling you to customize the authoring environment to work the way you work best. With ToolBook, you can create project specific authoring catalogs using the customizable catalog feature. You can use ToolBook Instructor’s built in scripting feature, OpenScript, to create authoring extensions to automate repetitive tasks and new authoring extensions.

4. Software Application Simulations

ToolBook's simulation recorder application and simulation editor help you quickly develop realistic simulations of software applications. These simulations can show users exactly what steps to take, data to input, fields to complete, or mouse clicks to make when they're using a software application. You can create simulations that judge user responses, track user activity, "time-out" a task, or respond to an interaction with any number of logic based responses. And all user results can be tracked using SCORM or AICC industry formats. You only need to create the simulation once, then deploy in any combination of demonstration, practice and performance modes.

5. Create Interactive Learning Content For The Web

With features and functions designed to take advantage of the Web, ToolBook brings the creation and distribution of online courses to a whole new level. ToolBook automatically generates the HTML for you. All content is HTML and compatible with Microsoft, Netscape, Mozilla, and Firefox Web browsers.

6. Flexibility With The Actions Editor

ToolBook Instructor's Actions Editor is a visual programming tool that allows developers to extend the product's built in functionality. With the Actions Editor, you can create custom action sequences that are automatically exported to HTML based on the information you enter. It features a drag-and-drop actions palette, enabling you to create and edit action sequences quickly, as well as the ability to access JavaScript and SCORM directly. You can also send data to back-end server processes (e.g. ASP, CGI).

7. Easily Incorporate Assessments

ToolBook Instructor has more than ten assessment object types - true/false, multiple choice, drag and drop, match item, essay, and more - that test users on their understanding of your content. These objects have built in behavior that provides feedback to your users and supplies you with information about how your users respond to these questions. Plus, with the ability to randomize questions and answers, you can perform secure testing.

8. Standards Support for LMS Integration

ToolBook supports SCORM and AICC, making it easy for you to use the lessons you create as part of a total e-learning solution. You can deliver the content using SumTotal Enterprise Suite or any standards-based learning management system. You can also deploy content developed in ToolBook on the Internet, an intranet, a local area network (LAN) or CDROM.
