Should I buy a site licence or individual licences, perpetual or on subscription?

These are some of the key features to consider

• Subscriptions include free maintenance, perpetual licences do not.
• Annual maintenance agreements available at extra cost for perpetual licences.
• Annual technical support agreements available at extra cost for any licence type.
• Perpetual licences ideal for institutions with a longer technology cycle.
• Renewal not required to continue using eLearning created during subscription.

Perpetual Licences

• For 4 or more users of Instructor, site licence optimal.

If you want to buy a perpetual licence, a site licence will save money over individual licences if you have 4 or more users of Instructor.

Subscription Licences

• For 3 or more users of Instructor, site licence optimal.
• Site licence for 3 years or more offers further discounts.

If you want to buy a subscription licence, a 1 year site licence will save money over individual subscriptions if you have 3 or more users of Instructor.

Subscription v Perpetual

If you are comparing perpetual licence costs with subscription licence costs, we would suggest that, in general, perpetual licences work out cheaper for longer time use or for smaller numbers of users. However, in the current climate of a fast moving technology market, you may need to cost for upgrades (only included free of charge with subscription licence). As an example, if you bought individual perpetual licences and upgraded twice, it would be cheaper to have had 2 years of individual subscriptions. For fixed term use, see Projects for further advice.
